HACKENSACK, N.J. - The HFU bowling team kicked off its 2025-26 campaign with four victories, three of which were over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) members, at Fairleigh Dickinson's NJ Open hosted at Bowler City over the weekend.
The season began with an 817-652 triumph over Chestnut Hill in traditional play on Friday as
Shayla Hess (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) totaled 201 pins, tied for the most by a Tiger on the day.
Hess also knocked down 201 pins in an 863-799 win over Felician, before HFU was narrowly denied a third victory in a 733-739 setback to Long Island.
Maria Hindman (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) averaged a team-high 168 pins on the day, followed closely by
Addyson Given's (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) 161.8, Hess' 156.2 and
Emily Simpson's (Levittown, N.J./Neshaminy) 152.2.
After a 0-4 Saturday the Tigers bounced back to win two of their three matches on Sunday, including getting redemption with a 4-1 triumph over LIU.
That was followed by Holy Family's third victory over a league foe, a 4-2 decision over Caldwell.
Of note, joining Given in making her collegiate debut on the weekend was
Catherine Cosden (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem).
