NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Holy Family University Bowling Team closed out its 2025-26 season at Wilmington's Northeast Region Roundup, hosted at Bowlerama, over THE weekend.
HFU went 3-2 in traditional play on Saturday, winning three straight matches against Chestnut Hill (798-782), Wagner (901-680) and Merrimack (869-631). The Tigers nearly made it 4-1 with a narrow loss to Kutztown (744-760).
Shayla Hess (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) led the way with 920 total pins, a 184.0 average, which ranked 16th among 63 bowlers. She surpassed 200 twice, including a 229 in the win over Wagner.
Addyson Given (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) (903 total pins) and
Maria Hindman (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) (877) were also in the top-half of the field, with Given rolling a 200 in the victory over Merrimack.
Also competing on the day were
Emily Simpson (Levittown, N.J./Neshaminy) (751) and
Catherine Cosden (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) (667).
In baker play on Sunday, Holy Family defeated Merrimack again, 897-715, after suffering a narrow 989-1003 defeat to Mercyhurst despite a weekend-high pin total.
The Lakers would then defeat the Tigers in bracket play, 1-4, in the fifth-place match.
