NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Holy Family University bowling team opened its season with two victories at the Bud Whitman Memorial hosted at Bowlerama over the weekend.
After going 0-5 on in traditional play on Saturday, which included a narrow 766-775 defeat to Saint Anselm in their first match, the Tigers bounced back to win their first two matches in baker play Sunday.
Holy Family first defeated Howard 831-828, before taking down Molloy with a weekend -best pin total of 877-828.
The Tigers ended their weekend with a 2-4 loss to LIU in match play, which began with HFU taking a 2-1 lead.
Tiffany McNally (Philadelphia, Pa/Archbishop Ryan) led Holy Family with an average of 178.4 pins in traditional play, followed by
Sarah Winder's (Burlington, N.J./Burlington Township) 168.3.
Emily Simpson (Levittown, N.J./Neshaminy) and
Madisyn St.Marie averaged 158.0 and 148.7 pins, respectively, in their collegiate debuts.
Corin Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) matched St. Marie with an average of 148.7 pints, while
Maria Hindman (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) (146.3) and Shyala Hess (133.3) also made their collegiate debuts.
