NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday night.
It was
Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) who had the first shot of the night, forcing a save 9:07 in, but it was the Owls who opened the scoring on their first attempt on net in the 26th minute.
Two
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) stops made kept the score at 1-0 entering the half, but SCSU would make it 2-0 just 4:22 out of the break.
The Tigers pushed to cut into the deficit, at one point outshooting the Owls 7-1 in a 26+ minute stretc, but both
Allison Loper (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy (Georgian Court)) and Kilkenny were both denied by the SCSU goalkeeper.
Kilkenny led all players with four attempts, including two on frame, while Preuhs made a season-high five saves.
