PHILADELPHIA – HFU Women's Soccer shutout defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament champion Wilmington, 2-0, on Tuesday evening at Tiger Field, in a battle of teams with 2-0 league records.
Bridget Dickson (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) opened the scoring with her sixth goal in three matches as
Gyzell Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) played a free kick back to
Samantha Pastino (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), who sent it to the back post for unmarked header 5:45 out of the half.
Rowan was then fouled in the box, before converting the penalty, to make it 2-0 with 20:31 remaining.
It was the second time in three matches that the junior has had a goal and an assist, while Pastino's assist was her first of the season.
Holy Family controlled most of the match, outshooting the Wildcats 13-8.
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) made five saves in the victory, as she now ranks tied for ninth in program history with nine shutouts.
She was protected by the defense of Pastino,
