PHILADELPHIA – The HFU men's basketball team recovered from not scoring in the first 7:37 to easily defeat Georgian Court, 87-64, for its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center
Individual Highlights
- Nine Tigers made at least two baskets, highlighted by Aamir Hurst (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) leading all players with a season-high 19 points on 6-of-9 field goals, 4-of-6 3-pointers and 3-of-4 free throws
- He added a season-best four assists
- Ethan Pires (Dover, Del./The Pennington School (Millersville University)) was the only other Tiger in double-figures with 15 points, including making 5-of-7 triples, all of which came in 17 minutes in the first half
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) and Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Woodstock Academy (University at Albany)) paced HFU with seven and six rebounds, respectively, while adding eight and nine points
- Izaiah Credle (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna (Chesapeake College)) had eight points too, while Tazir Cantey (Lindenwold, N.J./Eastern Regional) and Jake McGonigle (Ocean City, N.J./Wildwood Catholic) chipped in with six apiece
- Cantey led the Tigers with five assists, while Robinson Jr. paced all players with two blocks

How it Happened
First Half
- Holy Family went scoreless for the first 7:37, allowing GCU to build a 0-9 advantage
- The Lions later took the second of two 10-point leads, 8-18, with 11 minutes remaining
- It was all HFU from there though as the Tigers outscored GCU 31-6 over the final 10:31, beginning with 18 unanswered
- Five different players got on the board in the stretch, highlighted by Pires making two 3-pointers as the Lions did not score for 7:07
- It ended with Hurst putting Holy Family ahead 26-18 with four and a half minutes to go
- The two teams then exchanged baskets but Pires made three triples in the final 2:15 as part a half-ending 11-2 surge, which ended with the Tigers on top 39-24 after he beat the buzzer
Second Half
- Georgian Court cut the deficit to single-digits four times in the second half but could never get close than eight
- The last occurrence came at 54-45 with 11:07 to play, only for Hurst to nail back-to-back 3-pointers to keep the cushion in double-digits for good
