PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Men's Basketball Team led for the first 31-plus minutes, only to have Jefferson pull away late for a 64-73 final on Tuesday night.
Individual Highlights
- Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek (Sacred Heart University)) fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and team-highs of nine boards, three assists and two blocks
- Elijah Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./Our Savior Lutheran (Westchester CC)) topped the Tigers with 12 points, while Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) also had 11
How it Happened
- Holy Family led throughout the entirety of the first half after scoring the first five, and eight of the first 10, points
- That included four eight-point advantages, the final of which came when Coursey beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer for a 31-23 edge
- The cushion reached double-digits, 36-25, on a Hernandez triple just 52 seconds out of the locker room
- The lead was still four, 48-44, following an Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep (American International College)) layup midway through the half, only for Jefferson to tally the next nine points to go ahead for the first time on a 3-pointer with 7:36 to go
- The Tigers cut the deficit to three twice, including at 52-55 on two Hernandez free throws with 5:49 left, but the Rams had an answer each time
