Women’s Soccer Cleans Up on CACC Weekly Honors

New Haven, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team was recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in a number of awards as the conference announced its weekly honors earlier today for the week ending Sept. 26.

Senior Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) was named the CACC Player of the Week, while fellow senior Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) captured the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week honor for the second straight week.  In addition, sophomore Carly Nothnagel (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) was among those listed on the Weekly Honor Roll.

Holy Family went 3-0-0 this past week with a 3-1 victory over Queens College to start things off.  The Tigers followed with a pair of 1-0 triumphs over Goldey-Beacom College and at Felician University.

Ziegler totaled six points this past week as she totaled four assist and one goal.  She totaled a season-high four points in the win over Queens with her first goal of the season and two helpers.  Ziegler then assisted on each goal in the victories against the Lightning and Golden Falcons.  Both assists in the conference match ups came off corner kick attempts.

In six games this season, Ziegler currently leads the CACC with six assists and is tied for second among the NCAA Division II leaders.

McSeed is earning Goalkeeper of the Week laurels for the second straight week.  She recorded three victories, including two shutout wins in three starts.  McSeed totaled seven saves in the win against Goldey-Beacom and had two and three saves against Queens and Felician respectively.  In total, McSeed finished the week with 12 saves, two shutouts and a 0.00 goals against average.  Her two shutouts gives her three for the season and seven for her career.

This season McSeed ranks first in the CACC in save percentage (.909), shutouts (3), wins (4) and is second in goals against average (0.52).  She's also third in total saves with 30.

Nothnagel scored her first two goals of the season this past week, both being game-winners.  She tallied what turned out to be the game-winning score in the 3-1 victory over Queens.  In the next game, Nothnagel scored the team's lone goal in the win over Goldey-Beacom.  Her tally came :36 seconds after checking into the game off Ziegler's corner kick attempt.

Kilkenny was one of the key aspects to the Holy Family defense this past week.  The Tigers averaged opponent shots to less than 10-per game during the course of the week.  Holy Family held Felician to a season-low four shots from an opponent.  Kilkenny also recorded her first career assist in the win over Queens.

Holy Family (4-1-1, 3-0-0 CACC) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 as the Tigers travel to face city rival Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
