Tigers Win Fourth Straight With 15-8 Victory at Chestnut Hill

Lafayette, Pa. - Sophomore Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored a career-high six goals as the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team defeated Chestnut Hill College by the score of 15-8 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Monday night at Victory Field #1 on the campus of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
 
Holy Family, winners of four straight games, improves to 6-7 overall and 6-3 in conference action.  With the victory, the Tigers are now one full game ahead of Wilmington University (5-4) for second place in the CACC South Division.  Chestnut Hill is now 3-11 overall and 3-5 in the CACC.
 
Settar exploded for a career-high six goals to lead the Tigers' offense as she scored three in each half.  She also controlled five draws as the Tigers held a 19-6 advantage on the draw.
 
Sophomore Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) totaled three goals on the night, while senior Brigit LaRose (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross) and junior Christina Bonomo (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) each tallied two goals apiece.  LaRose also picked up three ground balls and caused a game-high four turnovers on defense. 
 
Freshman Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) supplied the Tigers with three ground balls on defense to go along with one caused turnover, while junior Sarah Kelly (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) totaled a game-high six draws.  Kelly also caused a turnover and picked up one ground ball.
 
For Chestnut Hill, senior Kelly Campbell and freshman Alicia Herbert each led the Griffins with three goals.  Herbert along with senior KarlaAne Klouda each finished with a team-high three ground balls.
 
Holy Family took full control of the game midway through the first half.  Trailing 4-3 after Campbell scored back-to-back goals for the Griffins, the Tigers responded with nine straight scores over the final 17:08 of the half to take a commanding 12-4 lead into half time.
 
In the second half the Tigers left off where they ended the first half as Settar scored two straight goals to open the half to give Holy Family a double-digit lead at 14-4.  After a score by Herbert at the 20:56 mark, Settar added the Tigers final score less than a minute later to make it a 15-5 game.
 
Settar scored all three goals for Holy Family in the second half as the Tigers' defense allowed only three goals by the Griffins in the final 20-plus minutes of action.  Chestnut Hill scored the game's final three goals with less than eight minutes to play in regulation.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) only made two saves in net after facing only ten shots on goal by the Griffins.  Holy Family outshot Chestnut Hill by a 30-19 margin. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, April 16 as the Tigers host Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
