PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The Holy Family University Women's Lacrosse Team led 9-6 entering the fourth and 10-8 in the final minutes of regulation, but the Tigers cold not hold on as Chestnut Hill prevailed 10-11 in double overtime on Wednesday afternoon.
Haydee Guzman (New Castle, Del./St. Georges Technical) made two saves in the first overtime, and
Lexi Ryan (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) possessed the opening draw control in the second, but HFU could not get a shot off in the extra periods.
Individual Highlights
- Guzman made a season-high 15 saves in net
- Gwen Varley (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) and Ryan had the match's two highest draw control totals with a career-best five and four, respectively, while each added a team-high three points
- Julie Gallardo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township) and Taina Harkins (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) joined Varley in scoring twice
- Gallardo, Elle Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Casey Schuette (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tied a team-best with three ground balls apiece, with Schuette also topping HFU with a match-high two caused turnovers

How it Happened
- Holy Family did not trail in regulation as Ryan and Harkins both found the net in the opening 2:25
- The Tigers' first half lead reached as large as 5-1 when Schuette scored 3:35 ahead of the break
- Chestnut Hill closed the half with two scores to cut the deficit to 5-3, but HFU opened the third quarter on a 4-1 run - in which Varley found the net twice - to go up 9-4 on a Jamie Gugger (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) goal with 4:30 left in the period
- CHC responded with four in a row though, and despite Morgan Wise (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area Senior) re-establishing a multiple-goal cushion with 3:53 to play, the Griffins would score twice in the final three minutes of regulation
