Brigit LaRose (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross) and sophomore
Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) each scored four goals apiece, however the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team was edged out by Wilmington University, 14-10, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Monday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.Â

Holy Family is now 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in conference action.

LaRose and Settar combined to score eight of the team's ten goals scored on the afternoon. LaRose tied her season-high with the four scores as she was a perfect 3-for-3 on free position shots. Settar set a new career-high with her four goals. She also totaled four ground balls and controlled three draws.

Senior Mariss Lawson and sophomore
Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) also scored for the Tigers. Defensively, junior
Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) caused three turnovers for the second straight game and picked up a career-high seven ground balls. Lawson had six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.

For Wilmington, junior Rebekah McCurry led all scorers with five goals on the afternoon. McCurry also controlled three draws, caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls. Senior Sarah Lindler led the Wildcats with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

After Lawson tied the score 1-1 with a goal at the 26:28 mark of the first half, the Wildcats responded with four straight goals to take a 5-1 lead as junior Megan Keffer scored two goals to lead the rally.

Holy Family the lead down to two scores after back-to-back goals by Settar and LaRose made the score 5-3 at the 9:55 mark. However, Wilmington went on to score four of the next five goals of the half to lead 9-4 at halftime. McCurry scored the half's final two goals at 6:03 and 3:35.Â

LaRose and Settar opened the second half scoring back-to-back goals to bring Holy Family within three goals of the Wildcats' lead at 9-6. Wilmington responded again with two straight scores to make the score 11-6 midway through the half.

The Holy Family offense followed with a surge as the Tigers scored four of the next five goals to cut the lead to 12-10. Harmer started the rally at the 13:50 mark, while LaRose capped the scoring with a goal with 5:13 to play in the half.

Despite the rally that would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Wilmington defense held the Tigers scoreless down the stretch. The Wildcats added insurance goals by juniors Katie Spence (3:17) and Madeline Hewitt (1:13) to secure the victory.

Sophomore
Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made 10 saves in net for the Tigers, while senior Corinne Dries had 14 stops in net for the Wildcats. Holy Family outshot Wilmington, 32-30, and held a slight edge in ground balls by a 31-27 margin. The Wildcats had a 14-12 advantage on the draw.

Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, April 3 as the Tigers travel to face Molloy College in a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
