Tigers Draw Georgian Court in CACC Tournament Opener

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team will be making its fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament appearance on Saturday, April 27 as the Tigers face host and top-seed from the North, Georgian Court University.

Holy Family (11-5, 8-2 CACC), the defending CACC Champions, is seeded second from the South Division and will face the Lions (8-7-1, 7-3 CACC) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Georgian Court Track & Field Complex.  Prior to the Tigers/Lions semifinal match up, top-seeded Philadelphia University (13-4, 10-0 CACC) will face the North's second-seeded Dominican College (7-6, 7-3 CACC) in the first semifinal at 12 p.m.  The winners of both semifinal contests will face one another in the CACC Tournament Final at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Price of admission to the CACC Tournament is $6 for adults, $3 for children, seniors and students with proper ID.  Children under the age of three (3) will be admitted for free.

Holy Family and Georgian Court have met twice in postseason play, both times coming in the CACC Tournament Final.  The Lions defeated the Tigers in 2010 to win the championship, while Holy Family avenged that loss two years later with a 15-10 victory in last season's final.  The Tigers are 4-7 all-time versus Georgian Court and have won the last four meetings.

In this year's regular season meeting hosted by Holy Family, the Tigers came away with an 18-12 victory.  Junior Brigit LaRose (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross) and sophomore Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) each scored four goals in the victory to lead the Tigers' offense.  Senior Maria Mattioli (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Nazareth) and freshman Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) came through with three goals apiece.

This season, senior Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) has led the Tigers in scoring with 51 points, which ranks fifth in the CACC.  McNesby, the team's all-time leading scorer with 202 career points, also ranks sixth with 39 goals and tenth with 12 assists.   In addition, McNesby is second in the conference with 72 draw controls.

Lancetta and LaRose have supplied the Tigers with 37 and 36 points respectively thus far.  Lancetta has scored 34 goals, tenth best in the CACC, and recorded three assists, while LaRose has 36 goals, which is the eighth most among the conference leaders.

Defensively, senior Jessica Maloney (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), the program's all-time leader in ground balls, leads the team with 41 this season to go along with 17 caused turnovers.  Sophomore Caitlin Carrezola (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) has totaled 30 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers, while fellow classmate Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) tallied 27 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Freshman goalkeeper Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) ranks tops among the conference's goalkeepers in a number of statistical categories, including first in wins (11), second in goals against average (9.39), fourth in saves (113) and fifth in save percentage (.425).   Her 9.39 goals against average this season currently ranks the lowest ever in program history in a single season.

Georgian Court senior Corinne Coyle is currently the conference's top scorer with 79 points this season.  Coyle has totaled a conference-best 65 goals to go along with 14 assists.  She is also tied with the team lead with 15 caused turnovers. Freshman Melissa Williams has totaled 41 points in her first year of collegiate action after compiling 31 goals and ten assists.

Senior Olivia Rotunno leads the team with 37 ground balls and is tied with Coyle with a team-best 15 caused turnovers.  Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Cathcart has made 121 saves in net and has a goals against average of 9.73.
