GAME ONE BOX SCORE
GAME TWO BOX SCORE

Newtown, Pa. - The Holy Family University softball team exploded for 18 runs as the Tigers swept Chestnut Hill College by identical 9-0 scores in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader Friday afternoon at Helen Randle Park in Newtown.

Holy Family snaps its four-game losing streak and is now 12-12 overall on the season and in the process improves to 6-4 in the CACC.  Chestnut Hill is now 1-11 overall and 1-9 in conference play.

Holy Family had 12 players collect hits on the afternoon, including senior Bianca Robinson (Erial, N.J./Timber Creek) who finished the doubleheader 3-for-4 at the plate to go along with three runs and five RBI.  Robinson's impressive day didn't stop there.  She also collected her 100th career hit in her second at-bat of game one and then launched her first home run of her career in game two.  Robinson currently has 102 career hits.

Juniors Lindsey Iden (Rushland, Pa./Council Rock North), Danielle McDevitt (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) and Deanna Myers (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) all finished the doubleheader 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs.  Myers also drove in a run.  Sophomore Samantha Borrelli (West Berlin, N.J./Overbrook) (2-for-7) drove in three runs on the afternoon, while freshman Erica Reis (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East ) (1-for-5) drove in four runs after hitting her third home run of the season.

Game One: Holy Family 9, Chestnut Hill 0 (5)

In game one, Holy Family scored nine first-inning runs to put the game away early.  The Tigers had their first 11 batters reach base and scored eight runs before Chestnut Hill recorded an out in the first inning.

Reis highlighted the inning with a grand slam home run, while Borrelli recorded a two-run double to plate the Tigers' first two runs of the game.  Robinson, who had a two-run single in her second at-bat of the inning, and senior Cassandra Fitzgerald-Black (Whitby, Ontario/Fr. Leo J. Austin C.S.S.) also had run scoring hits in the inning.

Sophomore Victoria Reuscher (Cheltenham, Pa./Little Flower HS for Girls) (6-6) picked up her sixth win of the season as she pitched a complete five-inning game.  She scattered three hits and struck out one batter in the victory.

Junior Veronica Wilenta went 2-for-2 for Chestnut and was the only batter on either team to have multiple hits in the first game.

Game Two: Holy Family 9, Chestnut Hill 0 (5)

If you glanced at the final results of game two it would look very familiar to the game one box.  Holy Family once again plated nine runs off nine hits, while the Tigers' defense only let up three hits to the Griffins.

Holy Family gave sophomore pitcher Rachael Alligood (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) a 3-0 lead after the first inning.  Robinson and McDevitt led the inning off with back-to-back bunt singles, which set the tone for the inning.  Robinson scored off a groundout by Borrelli and McDevitt crossed the plate after stealing third and advancing on an error by the shortstop on the steal attempt.

Later in the inning, Myers connected on a run scoring single to drive in the third run.

That would be all the offensive help Alligood (2-0) would need as she went three innings to win her second game of the season.  She allowed just one hit, while striking out three.  Freshman Sarah Chilutti (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) closed out the game in relief going two innings.  Chilutti let up two hits and struck out two batters.

Holy Family would go on to tack on six more runs in the bottom of the third inning to wrap up the 9-0 victory.  The Tigers had five hits in the inning and took advantage of a Chestnut Hill error on their way to the six-run frame.

Robinson capped the inning with her first career home run, which turned out to be a three-run shot.  She finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and two runs.  Sophomore AnnMarie Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) had a two-run single in the inning after freshman Kelsi Bunda (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) drove in a run with a bases loaded walk.

Freshman Brittany Hoban went 2-for-3 for Chestnut Hill, while Wilenta went 1-for-2.  Wilenta finished the doubleheader 3-for-4.

Holy Family was supposed to play at Bloomfield College tomorrow in a CACC doubleheader, however due to incoming inclement weather the games were postponed.  A make up date has yet to be announced.  As a result, the Tigers next contest is set for Tuesday, April 3 at home against Post University in a conference doubleheader.  Game one is slated for 3 p.m.
