Softball Run Rules CACC Regular Season Champion Caldwell in Game One

BENSALEM, Pa. - The HFU Softball Team defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season champion Caldwell 9-1 in six innings in game one of a doubleheader at Bensalem High School on Tuesday.

The Cougars would plate two unearned runs in a 0-2 final in the nightcap.

Game One
It took just two batters for HFU to take the lead for good, as Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) led off with a single and a double to quickly begin a four-run first.

After a Madison Grubb (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway) sacrifice fly and the second out, Olivia Croge (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and Franceska Celebre (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) came through with back-to-back two-out doubles, the latter of which drove in two to cap the four-run frame.

That was more than enough run support for Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), who improved to 8-7 with a complete game effort in which she surrendered just the one run. She struck out four and did not issue a walk.

The Tigers also plated multiple runs in the fifth and sixth, highlighted by Grubb's walk-off three-run homer.

Celebre was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI for her first collegiate three-hit performance.

Hobel also reached thrice, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and a base on balls, while Hoban went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Game Two
Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River) was on the wrong side of a pitcher's duel despite allowing just three hits, with four strikeouts against one walk, over her seven innings.

HFU had runner's reach scoring position in the third, fourth and sixth, as Rachel Allen (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Elizabethtown)) doubled, Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) tripled and Hoban singled and stole second, respectively, but each time they were stranded.

Allen notably went 2-for-2.

Up Next
The Tigers close out their regular season tomorrow, traveling to Jefferson for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
