BENSALEM, Pa. - Defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament champion Wilmington completed the series win, defeating the HFU Softball Team 3-7 in game two of the teams' first round matchup at Bensalem High School on Sunday afternoon.
Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) gave the Tigers some momentum, leading off the bottom of the first with a home run after WilmU plated four in the top-half, but the Wildcats scored in each of their next two at-bats to push the lead to 1-6.
Holy Family also cut the deficit to three with a two-run third, as
Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) led off with a walk and back-to-back singles by
Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) and
Adrianna Lisotto (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) loaded the bases. After a wild pitch brought home one, and
Olivia Croge (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) walked to load the bases once more,
Franceska Celebre (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) made it 3-6 with a sacrifice fly.
The Tigers then had their first two batters reach in the fourth, as
Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) doubled and Hobel walked, but Wilmington would not allow another run.
Kelly led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, while Hobel and Croge also reached twice.
Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) notably threw five innings of relief, surrendering just two runs on three hits.
