Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Contest to Queens, 19-11

BOX SCORE

Flushing, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest at Queens College (N.Y.) by the score of 19-11 Saturday afternoon.

Holy Family is now 3-4 overall, while Queens remains undefeated at 4-0 after the victory.

Junior Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led Holy Family with a team-high four goals.  She also controlled seven draws and caused two turnovers, while collecting four ground balls.  Seniors Samantha Cornely (Washington Twp., N.J./Camden Catholic) and Lauren Greco (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) each scored a pair of goals.  Greco also recorded four ground balls.  Freshman Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) finished the game with two points with a goal and an assist.

For Queens, junior Sarah Boucher exploded for a game-high six goals.  She also controlled six draws.  The Knights also had three other players record hat tricks, including senior Meghan Monahan, junior Heather Rosen and freshman Shannon Doody.  Monahan also had three assists, while Doody helped on two goals.

Holy Family trailed by the score 3-1 midway through the first half, however a goal by McNesby at the 15:10 mark cut the Knights lead to one (3-2).

Queens quickly responded with four straight goals over the next 11-plus minutes to take a 7-2 lead.  Boucher scored two goals during the Knights' run.

Holy Family bounced back and cut the lead to 7-4 with back-to-back goals from Greco and Cornely in the fourth minute.  Queens would add two more goals before Lancetta scored the half's final goal with :53 seconds remaining until halftime. Lancetta's goal made the score 9-5 entering halftime.

In the second half, Queens outscored Holy Family 6-1 the first 13:57 to pull away even further by the score of 15-6.  The Tigers would cut the lead down to as low as six after a goal by sophomore Marissa Lawson (York, Pa./Central York) at the 5:19 mark but that would be as close as Holy Family would get.

Queens would go on to outscore the Tigers 3-1 the final five minutes of the game to secure the 19-11 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Jenkins (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) made 13 saves in net for the Tigers, while sophomore Kahll Evans made 19 stop for the Knights.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, March 31 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a conference contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
