Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team scored the game's first six goals on its way to a 13-7 victory over Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.
Holy Family, winners of two straight games, improves to 2-2 on the season and begins conference play with a 1-0 mark. Dominican falls to 0-3 on the young season and 0-1 in the CACC.

Gina Mansi (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) and freshman
Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) each recorded hat tricks with three goals apiece to lead the Holy Family offense. Lancetta, who leads the team with 11 goals, also tallied an assist to finish with four points. Senior
Samantha Cornely (Washington Twp., N.J./Camden Catholic) and junior
Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) each finished the game with two goals and one assist for three points. McNesby also controlled seven draws and led the team with five ground balls.

Maria Mattioli (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Nazareth) and sophomore
Marissa Lawson (York, Pa./Central York) also scored for the Tigers.
For Dominican, sophomore Brianna Blank and freshman Allison Smithwick each scored two goals to lead the Chargers. Senior Aubree Williams finished the game with two points after scoring a goal and assisting on another.
As mentioned, Holy Family opened the game scoring the first six goals as Mansi got things started with an unassisted goal at the 18:48 mark of the first half. Mansi would then cap the Tigers run with a score at the 8:11 mark of the half after receiving a pass from Lawson.
Dominican would finally light up the scoreboard after Smithwick tallied her first goal of the game with 5:28 remaining in the first half. Smithwick's goal was the final goal of the first half as Holy Family entered halftime with a 6-1 advantage.
In the second half, Dominican cut the Holy Family lead in half after scoring two quick goals to begin the second stanza. Blank (25:41) and Smithwick (24:37) each scored to make the score 6-3.
However, Holy Family responded with a 4-1 run to take a 10-4 lead with 14:48 to play in regulation. Dominican cut the lead to 10-5 after a goal by freshman Gina Sparaco with 11:35 showing on the clock but that's as close as the Chargers would get as the Tigers maintained its offensive advantage the rest of the way.
Holy Family scored two goals in the final five-plus minutes including a score as the game clock expired. McNesby quickly passed to Lancetta over the middle as she tallied her third goal of the game as the horn sounded to end the contest.
Senior goalkeeper
Melissa Jenkins (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) made seven stops in net for the Tigers, while sophomore Veronica Iozzi turned away eight shots for the Chargers.
Holy Family held the advantage controlling 13 draws as oppose to eight by Dominican. The Tigers also held a slight edge in ground balls (21-18).
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, March 20 as the Tigers travel to face Wilmington University in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
