BOX SCORE
Bridgeport, Conn. - Senior
Jennifer James (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and junior
Lauren Greco (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) combined for 12 goals as the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team defeated Post University, 22-6, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest in Bridgeport, Conn., Thursday afternoon.
Holy Family improves to 7-8 overall and 6-5 in the CACC, while Post is now 1-14 overall and 0-11 in conference play. The win marked Holy Family's third straight conference victory and put the Tigers in a position to clinch a postseason berth into the CACC Championship. If Chestnut Hill College loses to Philadelphia University tonight, Holy Family is guaranteed a spot in next weekend's tournament.
James and Greco each scored six goals apiece to lead the Holy Family offense. James has scored a team-best 21 goals during the Tigers' current three-game winning streak. Greco tied a single-game career high with six goals. It just so happens that Greco scored six goals in the team's previous meeting with the Eagles back on March 19. Sophomore
Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) tallied two goals and three assists for five points to go along with five ground balls and three draw controls.
For Post, freshman Stephanie Marran scored a team-high four goals and controlled a team-best ten draws to lead the Eagles. She also grabbed three ground balls.
Holy Family started the game on a 4-0 run and never looked back as the Tigers mounted a 15-4 halftime lead to control the game from beginning to end. James scored five of her six goals in the first half to lead the Tigers.
In the second half, Greco came through with four goals in the half as Holy Family outscored Post 7-2 in the second stanza.
Junior goalkeeper
Melissa Jenkins (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) made 11 saves in net for the Tigers.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, April 23 as the Tigers travel to face cross-town rival Philadelphia University in the CACC regular season finale. Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
