Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Post, 17-6, in CACC Opener

Junior Lauren Greco scored a game-high six goals to lead the Holy Family offense.
Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Lauren Greco (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) scored a game-high six goals to lead the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 victory over Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Tiger Field Saturday afternoon.

Holy Family improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while Post drops to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.

Greco scored a season-high six goals in the victory to lead the Holy Family offense.  She also had three ground balls.  Junior Gina Mansi (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) scored three goals and had two ground balls.  Fellow classmates Samantha Cornely (Washington Twp., N.J./Camden Catholic) and Katherine Podlinski (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) each scored two goals apiece.  Senior Jennifer James (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) also scored two goals to go along with two assists.

For Post, freshmen Meghan Diggett and Stephanie Marran each scored two goals for the Eagles.  

Post quickly jumped out to a 3-1 lead as the Eagles scored three goals within the first ten minutes of action.  However, Holy Family responded and scored seven unanswered goals to close the first half with an 8-3 advantage. Mansi scored all three of her goals in the first half to pace the Tigers.

In the second half, Holy Family outscored Post, 9-3, to secure the victory.  Greco scored five of her six goals in the second half, including the first two of the half.  

Junior goalkeeper Melissa Jenkins (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) made eight saves in net for the Tigers as she faced 23 total shots.

Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, March 22 as the Tigers travel to face Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
