Women’s Lacrosse Falls to West Chester, 18-3

West Chester, Pa. -
The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to nationally ranked West Chester University, 18-3, at Vonnie Gros Field Thursday afternoon.

Holy Family is now 1-3 overall, while West Chester, ranked sixth nationally, improves to 3-1 overall.

Senior Jennifer James (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored two goals for Holy Family to increase her season total to ten goals.  Sophomore Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) tallied one goal to go along with three ground balls.

For West Chester, junior Jackie Patterson scored a game-high three goals to lead the Golden Rams offense.  West Chester also had five different players score multiple goals including seniors Jackie Hoover, Kelsey McGoldrick and Julia Walsh, along with sophomores Tori Dugan and Nicole Pyle.  

West Chester quickly mounted a 3-0 lead as the Golden Rams scored three goals in the first eight minutes of action.  Holy Family ended the short run with an unassisted goal by McNesby to make the score 3-1 at the 19:49 mark of the first half.

As the half continued the Golden Rams outscored the Tigers 8-1 the rest of the half to compile an 11-2 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, West Chester scored the half's first five goals to increase its lead to 16-2 with 17 minutes remaining in the contest.  The Golden Rams would add another two goals after James scored her second goal of the game for the Tigers at the 11:38 mark.

West Chester outshot Holy Family 46-14 in the contest and also held the advantage in ground balls (33-19) and draw controls (16-7).

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, March 19 as the Tigers host Post University in the team's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the season.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
