FLUSHING, N.Y. - After the HFU Softball Team run-ruled Queens 8-0 in five innings in game one, the Knights walked-off the nightcap in the eighth as the two teams split their doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
Â
Game One
Holy Family led throughout after
Rylee Hobel's (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) leadoff single and
Madison Grubb's (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway) one-out double in the top of the first.Â
Â
The Tigers scored in four of their five at-bats, capped by a five-run fifth in which they batted around.Â
Â
Hobel and Grubb were both involved again, each doubling, sandwiching a
Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) single.
Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) (double) and
Franceska Celebre (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) (single) then came through with two-out RBIs, with Celebre's base knock driving in two.Â
Â
Hobel, Grubb and Hoban all finished with two base knocks.Â
Â
Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) allowed just one hit, a leadoff double in the second, to earn the complete game win.Â
Â
Game Two
Hoban's second inning home run was the only scoring until Queens equalized in the sixth.Â
Â
After a scoreless seventh, the international run rule went to effect in the eighth and HFU went ahead on a Grubb sacrifice and wild pitch.Â
Â
After stranding another runner on second, the Tigers got the first out of the bottom-half, but a walk and double steal led to the tying run coming home on a fielder's choice.Â
Â
The Knights would then walk it off on an error.Â
Â
Starting pitcher
Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) surrendered just one run on four hits over six frames.Â
Â
Adrianna Lisotto (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance, while Hoban also reached twice. Â
