Holy Family Hires Charles Hopkins as First-Ever Head Women’s Flag Football Coach

The Holy Family University Department of Athletics is pleased to introduce Charles "Chuck" Hopkins as its first-ever head women's flag football coach.

Hopkins has spent the previous five years in the NFL Flag Philly organization, serving as an assistant defensive coordinator with the Kingsessing RoadRunners.

"We are thrilled to have Chuck serve as the department's first head women's flag football coach," said HFU Athletic Director Tim Hamill. "His energy during the interview process was contagious. He depicted a vision for the program that makes him not only the perfect candidate to lead our first women's flag football team, but the first varsity collegiate women's flag football team in Philadelphia."

During his time with NFL Flag Philly Hopkins has coached 27 teams, winning numerous playoff games and championships while facilitating camps, trainings, practices and team building activities.

The position has allowed him to develop a defensive model that can be applied to participants of different learning and ability levels, while also teaching sportsmanship, leadership, adversity, accountability, teamwork and self-reliance.

Hopkins previously served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy. He is currently a site coordinator with Playworks, where he creates improvement and recreation plans with schools enrolled in the organization's team-up program.

Holy Family announced the addition of women's flag football in July, making it the first Philadelphia institution to add the sport at the varsity level. The Tigers will begin their inaugural season in the Atlantic East in Spring 2025.
