BENSALEM, Pa. – The Holy Family University softball team did not trail until the seventh inning, but the Tigers suffered a 3-4 game one defeat to West Chester after the tying run was thrown out at the plate for the final out on Tuesday at Bensalem High School.
The Golden Rams were then leading 1-8 through four and a half innings of game two, which was suspended due to rain.
The two teams will attempt to finish that game at a later date.
Individual Highlights
- Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) finished 3-for-4 with a run for her second a career three-hit performance in the opener
- She also stole a base to move into a tie for 10th in program history with 10 for her career
- Game one starter Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River (Mount Olive)) did not allow an earned run in five innings, surrendering just three hits with six strikeouts and a walk
- Freshman Lindsey Gorka (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) recorded her first career multi-hit game in the opener

How it Happened
First Game
- HFU did not trail until a West Chester sacrifice fly made it 3-4 in the seventh inning, and the Tigers appeared to have tied the game in the bottom-half but the tying run was thrown out at the plate on a Hobel single to right field
- Holy Family opened the scoring with two unearned runs in the second, which featured singles by Hall and Gabrielle Wiley (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland)
- After the Golden Rams cut the deficit in half with an unearned run in the third, the Tigers cancelled it out in the bottom-half thanks to back-to-back hits by Hobel and Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) and a Lauren Hagy (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) fielder's choice
- West Chester once again took advantage of an error in the fifth though, tying the game with two more unearned runs
Second Game
- The Golden Rams plated two unearned runs as part of a six-run third to take control
- Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) got HFU on the board with a fourth-inning RBI single that scored Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), who had led off with a walk
