SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Holy Family University men's soccer team scored two goals in the span of 48 seconds in the 10th and 11th minutes en route to a 2-0 shutout victory at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday afternoon.
Sergio Revuelta (Valladolid, Spain/IES Alejandria) played a part in both scores, first assisting
Ned Lewis' (London, England/Hayesbrook) first career goal for HFU just 9:20 in. After receiving a long ball from
Kevin Duffy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) inside the right edge of 18, Revuelta found a wide-open Lewis at the top of the box, and the junior had the keeper rooted in place as his shot found the right corner.
Revuelta then collected a knocked down long Duffy throw-in on the left side of the box and after some good footwork, he beat the keeper near post for his team-leading fourth goal.
The senior also leads the Tigers with three assists on the year.
Cheikh Diouf (Dakar, Senegal/MLK) took over from there as he made a career-high 12 saves, eight of which came in the second half. That is tied for the eighth most in a single match in Division II this season.
Duffy,
Alvaro Orellana (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Portacell),
Anthony Ciceron-Elie (Montreal, Canada/),
Sean McKenna (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge),
Sergio Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain/IES Las Musas) and
Bogdan Stere (Bucharest, Romania/Lycée Français Anna de Noailles) played defensively in the shutout.
