Caldwell, N.J. - The Holy Family University softball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Caldwell College by identical 8-0 scores Sunday afternoon at Caldwell Field.
Holy Family is now 15-13 overall and 10-4 in the CACC, while Caldwell improves to 25-4 overall and 14-0 in conference play. The two victories increased the Cougars winning streak to 21 games setting a new program record.
Game 1: Caldwell 8, Holy Family 0 (6)
In game one, Caldwell senior Kourtney Wilson (11-1) allowed only four hits in six innings of work as she picked up her 11
th victory of the season. The Cougars' offense scored a pair of runs in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to outscore the Tigers, 8-0.
Sophomore Kristen Knorr and freshman Brielle Reighn each had two-run singles in the victory. Knorr finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three RBI.
Junior
AnnMarie Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) led the Tigers with a pair of hits (2-for-3). Dalton led the first and third innings off with singles.
Game 2: Caldwell 8, Holy Family 0 (6)
In game two, the Cougars continued where they left off from game one. The Caldwell offense supplied freshman Amber Padilla (8-1) with eight runs as she picked up her eighth victory of the season. Padilla tossed a three-hitter as she allowed zero runs, while striking out eight batters.
Knorr went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs to cap the afternoon with five RBI. Freshman Caitlin McCready led the Cougars with three RBI after launching a three-run home run in the sixth inning to seal the victory.
Dalton had another pair of hits for the Tigers (2-for-3) as she finished the afternoon 4-for-6 recording four of the team's seven hits.
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, April 10 as the Tigers travel to face Kutztown University in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is slated for 2:30 p.m.
