Tigers Face Dominican In CACC Quarterfinals






Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team will face a familiar opponent in Monday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarterfinal match up featuring the Tigers and Dominican College.  Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
 
Holy Family, seeded seventh in this year's tournament, will travel to take on second-seeded Dominican College for the second straight season.  Both teams were seeded in the same position, as they are this year.  In last season's quarterfinal, the Chargers defeated the Tigers in the shootout period, 4-2.  Both teams battled to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of action.

Holy Family and Dominican faced one another less than ten days ago in Orangeburg as the Chargers came away with a 1-0 victory. 

Holy Family finished the regular season with a 6-10-1 overall record and 6-6-0 in conference play to claim the seventh seed.  The Tigers struggled down the stretch, but came up with a key 5-2 victory at Goldey-Beacom College in the regular season to finale to clinch a postseason berth.  It marks the second straight season under the guidance of Georg Montag that the Tigers have advance to postseason play.
 
This season sophomore Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa./Philmont Christian Academy) has led the Tigers in scoring with nine points.  Mbriwa has scored a career-high three goals to go along with a career-best nine points.  Freshman Christopher Tracey (Abington, Pa./Abington) has come up big for the Tigers in his first year of collegiate action.  Tracey has scored three goals to go along with two assists for eight points.  Two of his three goals were game-winners.
 
Senior Ahmed Elgayar (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and sophomore Kevin McCollick (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) share the team lead with three goals with Mbriwa and Tracey.  Elgayar entered his senior season without a goal scored in his career and has come up with three this season, including two off penalty kick attempts.  McCollick's three scores this year is a new career-high.
 
Holy Family has a pair of goalkeepers that have split time this season.  Junior Nick Aglira (Churchville, Pa./Archbishop Wood) has started nine games this year and has made 59 saves in net.  Aglira has a 2.28 goals against average to go along with a .738 save percentage.  He finished the regular season with a 3-5-1 mark with one shutout victory.
 
Ongaro appeared in eight games and started seven for the Tigers as he has made 33 stops.  Ongaro has a 1.37 goals against average and finished the regular season with a 3-5-0 record, including a shutout victory.  Ongaro has a .750 save percentage. 
 
For Dominican (10-6-2, 8-3-1 CACC), seniors Jorge Zubillaga and Sony Narro have combined for 31 points this season.  Zubillaga leads the team with 16 points after scoring six goals and assisting on four others.  Narro has tallied five goals and helped on a team-high five for 15 points.
 
In goal, the Chargers feature senior Andres Ruiz who has started 16 of 17 games this season.  Ruiz has a 0.78 goals against average and has made 70 saves.  He also has allowed zero goals in nine games during the course of the season.
 
Dominican enters the tournament winning five of its last six games. 
The winner between the Tigers and Chargers will advance to the CACC semifinals to face the winner of the Philadelphia University/Chestnut Hill College quarterfinal match up.  Wilmington University will host this year's semifinal and championship round.  For complete schedule and pairings of the CACC Tournament click here.
