Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team were defeated by visiting Caldwell College by the score of 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 5-8-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the CACC, while Caldwell improves to 6-9-0 overall and 3-6-0 in conference action.Â

Caldwell scored the game's first goal late in the first half thanks to the defensive effort by freshman Noah Pederson. Pederson intercepted a pass directed towards Holy Family goalkeeper,
Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame/VCU), inside the box and pushed the ball past Ongaro for the score. Pederson's second goal of the season came in the 31
st minute.Â

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Cougars through halftime and into the start of the second half. Caldwell doubled its lead in the 50
th minute when freshman Haakon Sulheim connected on his first of two second half scores.Â

Sulheim received a pass from Pederson inside the box and found an opening towards the right lower portion of the net for the score. Sulheim would score his second goal of the game in the 77
th minute after receiving a crosspass from freshman Nicolas Prieto into the box. With his two scores, Sulheim increased his conference lead in goals scored this season to 14.

Ongaro made four saves in net for the Tigers after facing ten shots by Caldwell. The Tigers outshot the Cougars, 13-10, and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kick attempts.Â

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Hartmann made five saves for the Cougars.

Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 as the Tigers host Saint Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference contest. The game is Holy Family's final regular season home contest of the season and is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
