Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to cross-town rival Philadelphia University by the score of 3-1 Tuesday night at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
Holy Family is now 1-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while Philadelphia improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CACC. The Rams took the first two sets by the scores of 25-21 and 25-19 respectively. Holy Family bounced back and took set three convincingly with a 25-14 win. However, Philadelphia clinched the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Junior
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) led the Holy Family attack as she recorded a match-high 14 kills to go along with a .242 attack percentage. Freshman
Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) contributed nine kills to go along with match-high 15 digs. Fellow classmate
Charlotte Sabatano (Fredrick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added six kills to go along with 14 digs. Junior
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) led the team with 37 set assists to go along with three kills and six digs.
For Philadelphia, junior Brittany Olson led the team with ten kills and also added nine digs on the defensive side. Senior Danielle Carney finished with a team-high 13 digs as well as five kills, while junior Heather Martin led the team with 21 set assists.
Holy Family is back in action on Friday, Sept. 14 as the Tigers compete at the annual Ram Fest Tournament hosted by West Chester University.
