Reuscher Tosses No-Hitter as Softball Sweeps Nyack

GAME ONE BOX SCORE
GAME TWO BOX SCORE

Orangetown, N.Y. - Sophomore Victoria Reuscher (Cheltenham, Pa./Little Flower HS for Girls) pitched a no-hitter during game one of a doubleheader as the Holy Family University softball team swept Nyack College (1-0, 1-0) in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener Saturday afternoon at the Orangetown Little League Complex.

Holy Family improves to 7-5 overall and begins conference play with a 2-0 mark, while Nyack falls to 0-12 and 0-2 in the CACC.

In game one, Holy Family scored the games only run in the top half of the sixth inning.  Junior Danielle McDevitt (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) started things off with a base hit and would later scored on a hit by fellow classmate Lindsey Iden (Rushland, Pa./Council Rock North)

That would be all Reuscher would need as she blanked the Warriors through seven innings surrendering zero hits.  The victory marked her fourth of the season.

Freshman Erica Reis (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East ) finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with a double for the Tigers.

In game two, Holy Family struck first scoring its only run in the top half of the first inning.  McDevitt led things off with a single and would go on to steal second and third base to set up a run-scoring situation for the Tigers.

Sophomore Samantha Borrelli (West Berlin, N.J./Overbrook) came through and scored McDevitt with a sacrifice fly as Holy Family led 1-0 early on.  That would be all the offense in the game as pitching once again dominated the afternoon.

Reuscher pitched the first two innings and was relieved by sophomore Rachael Alligood (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) who came in and pitched five scoreless innings.  She scattered four hits and struck out four to record the victory.

Holy Family is back in action on Sunday, March 18 as the Tigers travel to face Mercy College in a non-conference doubleheader.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
