Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped its final regular season match of the season to visiting Dominican College by the score of 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gym. The Chargers defeated the Tigers by the scores of 25-22, 28-26 and 25-18.
Holy Family concludes the the year with a 13-18 overall record and an 11-8 mark in conference play, while Dominican wraps up the regular season at 23-7 overall and a perfect 19-0 in CACC action. With the loss along with the combination of Georgian Court defeating Caldwell and USciences defeating Nyack, the Tigers are officially elminated from postseason play. Georgian Court finished conference play at 12-7, while the Tigers and Devils each finished 11-8. However, due to the conference's tie-break procedures, USciences came up on top earning the fourth seed over Holy Family. The Devils season split with Philadelphia broke the tie as Holy Family was swept by the Rams. Both teams were swept by Wilmington.
Prior to today's match, the women's volleyball team recognized their three seniors in a pre-match ceremony honoring
Mackenzie Bickes (Orchard Lake, Mich./Mercy),
Christina Mastroeni (Belleville, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and
Cara Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley).
Junior
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) led the Tigers with 12 kills to go along with two total blocks. Freshman
Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished with nine kills, while fellow classmate
Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) added eight kills and two service aces. Sophomore
Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) along with Przybylowicz each added seven kills.
Junior
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) finished with 37 set assists to go along with nine digs. Freshman
Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) led the team with 16 digs, while Bickes added nine digs.
For Dominican, freshman Tori Dexter led the offensive attack with 12 kills to go along with ten digs. Senior Whitney Ranger finished with 31 set assists and recorded seven digs on the defensive end. Senior Jordyn Fuller led the match with 17 digs, while fellow classmate Michelle Fiorvanti tallied 11 digs and five kills.
