Caldwell, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team continues to keep its push to the postseason alive with the team's second straight shutout victory after defeating Caldwell College, 3-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon at the Newman Center.
Holy Family improves to 12-17 overall and 10-7 in conference play, while Caldwell falls to 19-12 overall and 12-5 in the CACC. With the win, Holy Family remains one game ahead of USciences (9-8) in the CACC South Division standings for the fourth and final postseason spot. The Tigers trail Georgian Court University (11-6) for third place by one game.
Holy Family picked up its second straight shutout in as many days after defeating Caldwell by the scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-23.
Freshman
Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) led the Holy Family attack with a match-high 15 kills to go along with a .483 attack percentage. Herring also recorded two service aces and seven digs. Sophomore
Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) also tallied double-figures in kills with 11. Ingram also had two service aces and nine digs.
Junior
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) led the Tigers 40-set assists and 12 digs, while freshman
Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) picked up 11 digs on the defensive end. Junior
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) added eight kills and three total blocks.
For Caldwell, Amber Mosher led the Cougars with ten kills, while Susan McDonough and Rachael DiLeonardo each recorded eight kills. McDonough also led the team with 13 digs. Lisa Roth finished with 29 set assists to go along with seven digs.
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 31 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
