Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team snapped its three-game losing streak with a 3-0-shutout victory at Georgian Court University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Friday night at the Wellness Center.
Holy Family improves to 11-17 overall and 9-7 in conference play, while Georgian Court falls to 13-14 overall and 10-6 in the CACC. With the win, Holy Family is now currently fourth in the CACC South Division and holds a one game lead in the standings over USciences (8-8 CACC) for the final postseason spot. Meanwhile, Georgian Court holds a one game lead over the Tigers for third place.
Holy Family opened the match with a 25-20 victory in set one and then cruised to a 25-19 victory in set two to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers clinched the match with a 25-21 victory in set three.
Junior
Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and freshman
Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) combined for 25 kills to lead the Holy Family offensive attack. Ambach finished with a match-high 13 kills and recorded an impressive .632 attack percentage. Herring tallied 12 kills with a .409 attack percentage to go along with four service aces. She also led the team with four total blocks; two solo and two block assists.
Junior
Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) led the team with 30-set assists, while freshman
Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished with a team-best 11 digs for the Tigers.
For Georgian Court, Anabelle Barinas led the Lions with ten kills to go along with a .345 attack percentage. Jaslene Lopez tallied 16 set assists, while Francheska Cedres finished with a team-high 12 digs.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 27 as the Tigers travel to face Caldwell College in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 2:30 p.m.
