Tigers Battle Cross-Town Rival Philadelphia; Come Up Short, 3-2

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to cross-town rival Philadelphia University by the score of 3-2 snapping the Tigers four-match winning streak Friday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium. 
 
Holy Family is now 10-15 overall and 8-6 in CACC action, while Philadelphia improves to 15-7 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
 
Philadelphia took the first set by the score of 25-21 to take the first lead of the match, however the Tigers bounced back and took a tight second set by the score of 27-25.  The Rams would cruise to a 25-13 victory in set three but once again the Tigers rallied and tied the match with a 25-23 victory in set four.  Philadelphia clinched the match with a come-from-behind win in set five by the score of 15-13. 
 
Holy Family had three players record double-digit kills, including freshman Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) who tallied a match-high 16 kills.  Johnson also tallied 11 digs.  Freshman Charlotte Sabatano (Fredrick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) recorded 14 kills to go along with a team-best 17 digs and seven service aces.  Fellow classmate Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) added 11 kills and five service aces. 
 
As a team, Holy Family recorded 14 service aces compared to only five by Philadelphia. 
 
Sophomore Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) finished with a match-high 46 set assists and 15 digs, while freshman Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had 17 digs.  Senior Cara Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) contributed nine kills and four digs.
 
Philadelphia also had three players record double-digit kills as Brittany Olson led the Rams with 13 kills to go along with ten digs.  Terra Ecker had 12 kills and nine digs, while Danielle Carney added 11 kills and a match-high 20 digs.   Heather Martin led the team with 30 set assists and had 12 digs.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Tigers host Nyack College in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
