Philadelphia, Pa. - Freshman
Charlotte Sabatano (Fredrick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) recorded a career-high 17 kills to lead the Holy Family University women's volleyball team to a 3-2 victory at the University of the Sciences in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Friday night at the Bobby Morgan Arena.
Holy Family improves to 8-14 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while USciences is now 10-11 overall and 5-6 in CACC action.
Holy Family won the first set by the score of 25-23 to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. However, the Devils bounced back and took set two (25-20) to tie the match at 1-1. The Tigers would go on to regain the match lead with a 25-20 victory in set three, but USciences once again tied the match winning set four (25-20). Holy Family bounced back in set five with a 15-11 victory to claim the match, 3-2.
Sabatano led the Tigers' attack with a career-best 17 kills to go along with ten digs. Fellow classmate
Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) also tallied double-digits in kills as she recorded 10. Herring also finished with five service aces, four digs and two solo blocks.
Sophomore
Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) finished the match with 47 set assists and 11 digs, while senior
Cara Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) added nine kills and two service aces. Freshman
Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) led the team with 22 digs.
For USciences, Amanda DeAngelo and Caitlyn Crawford each tallied double figures in kills. DeAngelo led the team with 16 kills and 11 digs, while Crawford finished with 13 kills and five solo blocks. Kaileen Bevenour finished the match with 44 set assists and ten digs.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13 as the Tigers travel to face Concordia College in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
