Bloomfield, N.J. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team suffered a 6-1 loss to Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon on the road.
Holy Family, ranked seventh in the recent NCAA Division II NSCAA East Region Poll, is now 7-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play. This marks the team's first loss since Sept. 3 when the Tigers fell short to C.W. Post in double-overtime. Bloomfield is now 4-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference action.
Bloomfield led early with a 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute when Juan Ramirez headed the ball into the net off a cross pass from Edgar Aguilar. However, Holy Family tied the game when junior
Dodji Freitas (Philadelphia, Pa. (Togo)//Samuel Fels) scored off a free kick in the 25
th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
From that point on though, Bloomfield scored five straight goals with three goals coming from Terry Gibbs. Gibbs scored two first-half goals in the 34
th and 37
th minute and then tallied his third in the 76
th minute of action.
Bloomfield outshot Holy Family 31-9 in the contest and held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
Senior goalkeeper
Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, N.J./Paul VI) made 11 saves in net for Holy Family.
Holy Family is back in action on Monday, Oct. 10 as the Tigers host West Chester University in a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
