Men’s Soccer Blanks Bloomfield 3-0, Advances to CACC Semifinals

Newark, N.J. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team defeated Bloomfield College by the score of 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon on the campus of New Jersey Tech.
 
With the win, Holy Family improves to 11-5-1 overall, while fourth seeded Bloomfield finishes the season at 10-7-1 overall.  The Tigers, seeded fifth, will now face top-seeded Post University in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Chestnut Hill College.  Game time is set for 11 a.m.  Post defeated eighth seeded Caldwell College, 2-0, in its quarterfinal match. 
 
Holy Family scored the game's first goal in the 36th minute when senior Seydou Ba (Philadelphia, Pa. (Mauritania)/John Bartram) scored his 11th goal of the season to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Freshman Nicolas Delgado (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) was credited with the assist as he threw the ball towards Ba on a throw-in. 
 
Holy Family maintained its 1-0 advantage through the rest of the half and into halftime despite being outshot by the Deacons, 7-6.  Bloomfield held a 17-11 advantage on shots throughout the game.
 
The Tigers doubled their lead early in the second half when junior Jeffrey Wimsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) scored off a rebound inside six yards to make the score 2-0.  Wimsey's goal in the 56th minute was his fourth of the season.  Ba earned the assist on the play. 
 
Later in the half, the Tigers added an insurance goal when junior Dodji Freitas (Philadelphia, Pa. (Togo)//Samuel Fels) scored an unassisted goal off a free kick in the 75th minute.  It marked his second score of the season.
 
Senior goalkeeper Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, N.J./Paul VI) made five saves in net for Holy Family as he faced 17 shots.
 
Holy Family will be making its first CACC semifinal appearance since 2008 and the third under head coach Michael Bradby
