Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team suffered its first regular season conference loss in nearly six years after falling to Goldey-Beacom College, 64-51, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the Campus Center Thursday night.

Tonight's loss also ended Holy Family's home regular season winning streak at 71. The Tigers last home regular season loss occurred during the 2005-2006 season against Merrimack College on Nov. 19, 2005 (63-61 OT).

Junior Lauren Peters (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) finished with a team-high 16 points to lead the Holy Family offense. For Goldey-Beacom, sophomore Irene Hudson scored a game-high 19 points off the bench after shooting 7-of-10 from the field to lead the team in scoring. Sophomore Devonne Richardson recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 14 boards, while junior Jacinda Jones chipped in 11 points.

The first half saw five different lead changes and on four occasions the game was tied. Holy Family trailed by as many as six points with 5:30 remaining in the half by the score of 23-17. However, the Tigers closed out the half on an 11-4 run to take a 28-27 lead at halftime.

With Holy Family leading 35-34 at the 13:11 mark of the second half, Goldey-Beacom went on a 15-2 run to take control of the game by the score of 49-37 with 5:49 remaining in regulation. Hudson capped the run with a layup to give the Lightning a 12 point advantage.

Later in the half, Holy Family came within five points after Thompson drained a three-pointer to make the score 51-46 with 1:36 left on the clock. However, Goldey-Beacom's defense held the Tigers in check and closed out the half on a 13-5 run to secure the victory.

Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 22 when the Tigers host Concordia College in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
