Men’s Soccer Defeats Queens College, 1-0

Flushing, N.Y. – Junior forward Colin Whalen (Wyndmoor, Pa.) scored the game's only goal to lift the Holy Family University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Queens College in a non-conference contest Tuesday afternoon.

Holy Family improves to 4-6-3 with the victory, while Queens is now 4-8-1.

Whalen's goal came in the 32nd minute of action as he scored from 25 yards out off the throw-in from sophomore Jeff Wimsey (Philadelphia, Pa.). The goal marked Whalen's third of the season.

Queens held the advantage in shots (24-20) and corners (10-1), however the Holy Family defense held the Knight's in check allowing no shots to get through the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, N.J.) stopped a game-high ten shots to record his third shutout of the season for the Tigers. His counterpart, Dario Cabanas, recorded five saves for the Knights.

Holy Family is back in action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up at Chestnut Hill College.
