Jorden Sesar (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville (Manhattan University)) has become the first-ever HFU Baseball student-athlete to sign a professional contract after reaching a deal with the Sussex County Miners of the Frontier League, an MLB Partner Leage.
MLB Partner Leagues collaborate with MLB on various initiatives, while providing development opportunities for young players and for veteran players who seek a second chance to reach the Major Leagues.
The Frontier League is the oldest active independent professional baseball league and the largest of MLB's four Partner Leagues, consisting of 18 teams across 10 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. Formed in 1993 before becoming a Partner League in 2021, the Frontier League has placed more than 1,000 players in Major League organizations, with over half of those getting their first start in pro ball in the league.
The Frontier League features 96-game season from May through September. Sussex County hosts its 48 home contests in the friendly confines of Skylands Stadium in Augusta, N.J.
Sesar notably made his professional debut this past Sunday against the Down East Bird Dogs, striking out four over 2.2 scoreless innings in an eventual Miners win.
