WINTER PARK, Fla. – The HFU women's basketball team was able to cut a 17-point deficit to two twice in the second half, but the Tigers were never able to tie the score or take the lead in a 78-67 setback to Minnesota State Moorhead in the championship game of the Rollins Classic on Saturday evening.
Individual Highlights
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area), who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led Holy Family with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists
- Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) also had six boards and was in double-figures with 10 points
- Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) had 10 points too, a new season-high, while leading HFU with two blocks
- Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was the fourth Tiger in double-figures with 10 as well, with Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) adding eight

- Holy Family committed just five turnovers, its fewest since March 2, 2019, while forcing 17 to win the points off turnovers battle 20-4
- The Tigers also had a 23-7 edge in bench points, but the Dragons shot 51.7 percent from the field compared to HFU's 38.2 percent
How it Happened
First Quarter
- Morheaad broke a 2-2 tie with a 17-2 run to jump out to a 15-point advantage, 19-4, 6:18 into the action, and the Dragons still led by 15, 13-28, after 10 minutes of play
Second Quarter
- The lead reached as high as 17 twice in the first 48 seconds and remained in double-digits until the final two minutes of the half, when HFU closed the period with the final seven points
- Tretter had six of those seven, including a free throw that made the score 34-41 entering the locker room
Third Quarter
- Holy Family made it a two-possession contest for the first time since the first quarter on a Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) layup just 12 seconds out of the break, and a one-possession game, 42-45, on Searfoss' jumper with 6:27 showing
- The Tigers then got as close as two, 46-48, when Morrow made a layup 1:05 later
- Moorhead would respond with the next six points, re-establishing a two-possession advantage that would remain, 53-61, entering the final period
Fourth Quarter
- Holy Family pulled within five, 56-61, on a Kokolus and-one 1:26 into the final quarter, and again at 58-63 on Morrow's jumper with 7:34 remaining
- Morrow then nailed a triple 1:22 after to make it a two-point contest, 61-63, with 6:12 to play
- Once again that was as close as the Tigers could get, as a 10-1 spurt put the Dragons ahead 62-73 with just 3:38 on the clock
