Hall of Fame Honoree: Erik Henrysen '99

Holy Family University will be inducting five new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame this coming Friday at The Buck Hotel.  All this week we'll highlight each honoree leading up to Friday night's induction ceremony.  Our first honoree is former men's basketball standout Erik Henrysen '99. 

ERIK HENRYSEN (1995-1999)

 
Erik Henrysen HoF CardOnly four players in men's basketball program history have scored 2,000-plus points in their respective careers with Henrysen being one of them. He scored 2,115 points in his four-year career and to this day ranks third all-time in the program's record book.  He leads all Holy Family men's basketball players with 400 career three-pointers with 1,200 of his career 2,115 points coming from deep range.  Henrysen is also one of the program's most proficient free throw shooters as he holds a career .847 percentage from the line ranking third-best all-time.  His 360 made free throws are six-most program history.  Defensively, Henrysen ranks eighth all-time with 159 steals. In 1998 and 1999, Henrysen was named to the NAIA National All-American Honorable Mention team.  He was also part of the two men's basketball teams that advanced to the NAIA National First Round in 1996 and 1999. 

Q1: What was your initial reaction when you were told you were going to be inducted into the Holy Family Hall of Fame? 
"When I got the call, I felt a lot of emotions running through me.  I was mostly excited and proud, but also humbled at the same time."
Q2: What does it mean to you to be part of Holy Family's history and a future Hall of Fame member? 
"It feels like a lifetime ago that I played at Holy Family.  Since hearing of the news about being inducted, it has been fun to relive some of the memories."
Q3: What was your favorite moment at Holy Family?  
"My favorite moment was winning the conference my senior year.  It was the perfect ending to our careers."
Q4: What message do you have for current and future student-athletes that want to continue their education and athletic careers at Holy Family? 
"Take full advantage of the opportunity.  Value the friendships, relationships, and experiences.  College will go by in a blink so be sure to make memories while you figure your path."
