Tigers Drop Doubleheader Versus Huskies



Bensalem, Pa. - The Holy Family University softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader versus Bloomsburg University by the scores of 20-2 and 14-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Bensalem High School.

How It Happened (Game 1)
 
* In the opener the Huskies opened with three runs in the first thanks to a three-run homer by Sammi Starr.  Bloomsburg added another four runs in the seconds with Kalynn Wheeland highlighting the inning with a two-run home run and Marissa Shelhamer driving in a pair of runs with a double.
 
* Leading 7-0, the Huskies doubled their lead in the third with a seven-run inning to make the score 14-0.
 
* Senior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) produced the Tigers' only two runs in the bottom of the third when she connected on her fifth home run of the season; a two-run shot over the leftfield fence.  It marked Klem's 17th career home run tying her for fourth on the all-time home run list with former standout Angela DiBeneditto (2008-11).
 
* The Huskies went on to add two more runs in the fourth and four in the fifth.  Abby Wild (15-7) earned the win as she held the Tigers to two runs on five hits while striking out six.
 
How It Happened (Game 2)
 
* The Bloomsburg offense stayed hot in game two as the Huskies collected 20 hits and scored 14 runs.  The Huskies broke open a scoreless game in the fourth with four runs.  They went to score multiple runs over the final three innings, including six in the seventh.
 
* Kelsey Impink went 5-for-5 for the Huskies with three runs, while Erin DelPierre went 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI.  Tara Baney (11-8) earned the win as she limited the Tigers to two hits and one unearned run.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 17th and 18th meetings between Holy Family and Bloomsburg since the start of the 2004 season.  The Tigers are now 2-16 versus the Huskies in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action tomorrow as the Tigers travel to face city rival University of the Sciences in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader.  Game one is set for 2 p.m.
