Tigers Split With City Rival Jefferson

Bensalem, Pa. - The Holy Family University softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with city rival Jefferson on Thursday afternoon at Bensalem High School.  The Tigers took game one by the score of 5-1, before the Rams won the nightcap, 7-0.

Game 1: Holy Family 5, Jefferson 1
Game 2: Jefferson 7, Holy Family 0
Records: Holy Family (4-36, 4-16 CACC) | Jefferson (15-21, 10-10 CACC)
Location: Bensalem, Pa. (Bensalem High School)

How It Happened (Game 1)

* A three-run fourth inning by Holy Family broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Tigers the lead for good.  Senior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) led the inning off with her second home run of the season to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.  After an infield hit by junior Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)), freshman Abigail Smith (Elkton, Md./Red Lion Christian Academy) launched her first career home run over the left field fence to make the score 4-1.

* Holy Family added another run in the fifth when Beccari drove in freshman Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) with a single to left field.

* Senior Hannah Miravich (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) held the Rams in check as she earned her second win of the season.  Miravich limited Jefferson to just one unearned run on four hits in four innings of work.  Senior Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) entered in relief to pick up the three-inning save. Boltersdorf struckout three and allowed just two hits.

* Senior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) and freshman Madelyn Yeager (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) each went 2-for-3 with a double for the Tigers.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* In game two, Jefferson's Naomi Stas held the Tigers to just two hits in the game.  Stas took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.  With one out Yeager broke up the no-no with a base hit to left field.  Beccari followed with an infield hit to account for the Tigers' two hits in the game.  Stas finished the game with four strikeouts.

* Jefferson scored a pair of runs in the first and then tallied three runs in the third inning thanks to back-to-back home runs by Emily Williams and Breck Urban.  LilyAnn Yoakum also drove in a run in the inning with a double.

* The Rams added another run in the fourth when Madison Heno connected on a solo home run.  She finished the game 3-for-4 and scored three times.  Jefferson also scored a solo run in the sixth on B. Urban's third RBI of the game.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 38th and 39th meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson dating back to the 2002 season.  The Tigers are now 23-16 versus the Rams in that span.
