Location: Philadelphia, Pa. (CHC Softball Field)

How It Happened (Game 1)

* The Chestnut Hill offense came out firing as the Griffins plated nine runs within the first three innings.  The Griffins scored four innings in the second and another four in the third inning.  Cailey Stevenson drove in a pair of runs in the second, while Lily Winn scored two with a double in the third.

* Holy Family got on the board in the fourth thanks to a huge two-out rally.  With two outs freshman Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) singled up the middle and was followed with a double down the left field line by senior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont).  Senior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) came through with a two-run triple to right field and would score herself on a single by freshman Madelyn Yeager (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). Fellow freshman Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) capped the scoring after delivering a double to right-center to score Yeager.

* The Tigers added another run in the sixth when Hansen led the inning off with a solo home run, her third of the season, to make the score 9-5.  Hansen finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* Trailing 1-0 early on in the game the Tigers tied the score in the second inning when Remington connected on her second home run of the season.  Holy Family used the long ball again to grab a 2-1 lead in the third when sophomore Taylor Nichols (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) launched her team leading fifth home run of the season.

* Chestnut Hill recaptured the lead in the bottom of the third with a three run rally.  Kaya Swanek, Ariel Magee and Brielle Riotte all drove in a run to give the Griffins a 4-2 advantage.

* Holy Family cut the Griffins' to one in the top half of the fifth.  The Tigers loaded the bases but only came away with one run.  Junior Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) came through with a RBI single to make the score 4-3.

* In the seventh the Tigers had an opportunity to tie the game after Klem and Nolan led the inning off with back-to-back singles.  However, the Tigers were never able to advance past second base as two straight groundouts forced by Julianna Barry halted the potential rally.  Barry then recorded a strikeout for the final out to earn the save.

News and Notes

* Remington struck out a season-high eight batters as she went the distance for the Tigers in game two.  She allowed three earned runs in six innings of work.  Combined with her three scoreless innings of relief in game one, Remington finished the day with 13 strikeouts.

* Hansen went a combined 3-for-6 on the day for the Tigers to go along with three runs and two RBI.  Yeager had a pair of multi-hit games as she finished a combined 4-for-7 with two doubles.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 23rd and 24th meetings between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2008 season.  The Tigers are now 18-6 versus the Griffins in the all-time series.
