How It Happened (Game 1)

* In the opener the Holy Family offense came out firing from the start.  Senior Olivia Nolan (Shoreline, Wash./Shorecrest) got the scoring going in the first inning when she delivered a two-out double to right field to score sophomore Taylor Nichols (Salisbury, Md./Parkside).  The double signified Nolan's 100th career hit.

* In the second inning the Tigers added three runs with Nichols highlighting the inning with a two-run double.  Earlier in the inning sophomore Heather Bogardus (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) drove in a run with a base hit.

* Felician cut the lead in half in the top half of the third thanks to a two-run double by Nicole Spiegelberg that made the score 4-2.  In the bottom of the inning the Tigers responded in a big way as six runners crossed the plate.  Junior Julia Vizza (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and Nichols each blasted a three-run homer in the inning.  It marked Vizza's second home run of the season and Nichols first career long ball.

* Holy Family added two more runs in the fourth when freshman Madelyn Yeager (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) connected on her first collegiate home run.  Her two-run shot gave the Tigers a 12-3 advantage.

* Felician made things interesting with four runs in the fifth but that would be as close to the lead as the Golden Falcons would get as Holy Family closed out the game with a 12-7 victory.

* Senior Hannah Miravich (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) (1-4) picked up the victory as she went 4.2 innings.  She allowed just two earned runs while scattering 12 hits.

* Nichols finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBI and two runs.  Nolan also went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

* Felician's Jackie Ribaudo drove in three runs, while Spiegelberg went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* The Tigers found themselves in a deep hole after the Golden Falcons scored seven runs in the third inning.  Felician tacked on another run in the fourth to lead 10-2.

* In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers mounted their comeback with four straight hits to start the inning.  Freshman Abigail Smith (Elkton, Md./Red Lion Christian Academy) got things started with a single up the middle and scored when freshman Megan Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) doubled to right-center field.  Vizza followed with a run scoring double, before Bogardus drove her in with an infield hit.  Two batters later Nichols launched a two-run homer over the left field fence to make the score 10-7.  Nolan capped the scoring with a RBI single as the Tigers plated six runs on seven hits in the inning to cut the deficit to 10-8.

* Felician scored a run in the sixth to make the score 11-8.  However, in the bottom of the inning the Holy Family offense continued where it left off in the fourth.  Nichols recorded her second home run of the game to bring the Tigers within one run of the lead.  After Nichols' home run, senior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) and Nolan recorded back-to-back singles.  After Yeager reached on a fielder's choice, Smith delivered a two-run double to right field to give the Tigers a 12-11 lead.  Cappadora then followed with a run scoring single to increase the lead to 13-11.

* Freshman Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) (1-5) retired Felician in order in the seventh to record her first collegiate victory.  She went the distance allowed just three earned runs while striking out two.

* Nichols finished the game 2-for-4 with five RBI for the Tigers.  Klem went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, while Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

* Felician's Monica Laverty went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Steph Donah finished 3-for-4 with two runs.

News and Notes

* Just days after Klem recorded her 100th career hit, Nolan followed with her 100th career hit in game one.  In her first at-bat Nolan doubled to reach the career milestone.  Nolan is the 22nd player in the program's Division II history to record 100 career hits. She finished the doubleheader 5-for-6 and now has 104 career hits.
