Tigers Fall Short Against Cougars

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's tennis team fell short in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Caldwell University by the score of 4-3 on Saturday at the Union League Tennis Courts.

Match Recap
 
* Holy Family earned the point after doubles competition.  The Tigers number one duo of senior Alleyn Llaban (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and Nathalie Rivera (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) came away with a victory over Caldwell's Lauryn Schwint and Anne Ilardi after a 7-6 triumph.  In second doubles, seniors Latifah Hinawy (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and Meghan Moyer (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) teamed up to defeat Janis Jimenez and Kathryn Hurlbut, 6-3.  Holy Family won third doubles by default.
 
* In singles play, Llaban picked up her first win of the season as she defeated Ilardi in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 in the third position.  Holy Family also earned a point in sixth singles (Alexis Formagiu) by default.
 
* Caldwell though earned the match victory after picking up wins in first, second, fourth and fifth singles.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 as the Tigers host city rival Jefferson in a CACC contest.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
