Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team had five players score in double-figures and forced 22 turnovers on defense en route to a 90-75 victory over visiting Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.Â

Holy Family snapped its three-game losing streak with the victory and in the process improved to 16-8 overall and 10-5 in the CACC. Caldwell is now 13-8 overall and 9-5 in conference action.

As mentioned five players scored in double-figures for the Tigers including sophomore
Turhan Griffin (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Learning Center) who led the way with a career-high 20 points after shooting an impressive 8-of-10 from the field. Griffin also dished out four assists and recorded a pair of steals on defense.Â

Senior
Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) knocked down three three-pointers (6-11 FG) on his way to an 18-point performance, while sophomore
Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) added 17 points (6-9 FG) with three three-pointers of his own. Stewart also grabbed a game-high ten rebounds to record his fourth double-double of the season.Â

Redshirt senior
Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) contributed 11 points, while senior
Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) totaled ten points to go along with a game-high ten assists for his second double-double of the season. Ezell also grabbed six rebounds and had a game-high four steals.

In addition, junior
Brian Patterson (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) and sophomore
Hunter Wysocki (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) each totaled six points and five rebounds for the Tigers.

For Caldwell, junior Kevin Walker led all scorers with 27 points after shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-3 from deep range. Walker also converted 10-of-14 from the free throw line to go along with a team-high six assists. Juniors Wyatt Polk and Michael Balkovic as well as sophomore Terik Bridgeman all finished with 13 points for the Cougars.

Holy Family overcame a seven-point deficit midway through the first half to go on to take a 48-44 advantage at halftime. Both teams shot 58.0-percent from the field in the half as the Tigers knocked down 18-of-31, while the Cougars converted 14-of-24 from the floor.

It wasn't until the second half where the game flipped in large favor of the Tigers. Holy Family forced 12 second half turnovers and limited Caldwell to just 8-of-26 shooting from the field. For the game Holy Family forced 22 turnovers and scored 28 points off the Cougars' miscues.

As the second half progressed the Tigers began mounting a double-digit lead after a pair of free throws by Munoz made the score 62-51 at the 12:40 mark. Over the next four-plus minutes the Tigers increased that margin to 16 points thanks to a three-pointer by Munoz making the score 75-59.Â

Holy Family led by as many as 18 points on two separate occasions with the first coming after a layup fast-break score by Griffin to increase the lead to 83-65 with 4:09 to play.Â

As a team Holy Family totaled 11 three-pointers marking the 12
th time this season that the Tigers made double-figure three-pointers.Â

Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 11 as the Tigers travel to face Georgian Court University in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
