Tigers Over Power Felician, 82-56

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University defense held visiting Felician College to only 26.7-percent shooting from the field as the Tigers went on to defeat the Golden Falcons, 82-56, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
 
Holy Family improves to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while Felician is now 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the CACC.
 
Holy Family had four players score in double-digits, including redshirt senior Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) who led the Tigers with a game-high 16 points off the bench.  Hankins knocked down four three-pointers (4-8), including his first three attempts of the game. 
 
Senior Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) finished the game with 14 points as he filled the stat sheet with three rebounds, three steals, two blocks and a game-high eight assists.  Senior Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) and junior Xavier Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Saul) each scored 13 points for the Tigers.  Sophomore Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) grabbed a team-high ten rebounds and blocked two shots, while sophomore Isaiah Gans (Philadelphia, Pa./Redemption Christian Academy) finished with nine points, three rebounds a game-high four blocks.
 
For Felician, juniors Jarryd Horsley-Fordham and Will Thompson each recorded double-doubles.  Horsley-Fordham finished with ten points and 11 rebounds, while Thompson led the Golden Falcons with 13 points and 11 boards.  Freshman Tim Massado converted 9-of-11 free throw attempts to finish the game with 12 points off the bench.  He also grabbed eight rebounds.
 
Holy Family led from beginning to end as the Tigers opened the game with an 8-0 run and never looked back.  The Tigers held Felician to just 1-of-11 shooting the first seven-plus minutes of the game and forced six turnovers. 
 
The Tigers took their first double-digit lead of the game when Hankins drained a three-pointer to make the score 20-10 at the 7:45 mark.  Holy Family went on to take a 14-point advantage at the half after closing out the final 2:04 minutes on an 8-0 run.  Gans capped the half with a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Tigers took a 37-23 lead entering the locker rooms.
 
In the second half, Holy Family swelled its lead to 20 points after scoring six straight points to open the half.  A layup by Munoz made the score 43-23.  The Tigers limited the Golden Falcons without a field goal for the first 4:43 minutes of the half.
 
Defensively, Holy Family limited Felician to just 26.7-percent shooting from the field for the game as well as 2-of-17 from deep range.  The Tigers forced 20 turnovers and collected nine steals.  Holy Family also finished the game with ten blocks as a team recording double-digit blocks for the third time this season.
 
Holy Family led by as many as 33 points late in the game after a three-pointer by Williams made the score 82-49 with 2:31 to play in regulation.  Williams' three-pointer was the Tigers final score of the game.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 8 as the Tigers travel to face Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
