Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Chestnut Hill College by the score of 62-57 on Thursday night at the Sorgenti Arena.

Holy Family is now 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the CACC, while Chestnut Hill improves to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Senior
Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) led a trio of players that scored in double-figures for the Tigers. Ezell finished with a team-high 15 points after connecting on 6-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. He also grabbed three rebounds, dished out four assists and totaled a career-high eight steals on the defensive side. His eight steals broke his previous high by one set last season versus Molloy College (11/16).

Redshirt senior
Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) scored 14 points for the Tigers off the bench, while senior Albero Munoz contributed 13 points to go along with six rebounds. Sophomore
Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) added eight points and grabbed a team-high ten rebounds. Sophomore Isaiah blocked three shots and recorded two steals to go along with five points.

For Chestnut Hill, graduate student Taylor Trevisan led all scorers with 17 points. Trevisan scored eight of his 17 points from the free throw line converting 8-of-9. Freshman Billy Cassidy shot 6-of-9 from the field and was 4-of-7 from deep range to contribute 16 points off the bench. Junior Filip Sekulic also shot 6-of-9 from the field in a reserved role as he totaled 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds.Â

Chestnut Hill closed out the final 6:57 minutes of the game on a 13-2 run to steal the game from the Tigers in a comeback fashion. Holy Family led 55-49 after a fast-break dunk by Gans to give the Tigers their largest lead of the game with less than seven minutes to play.

The Griffins gained the lead after a three-pointer by Cassidy at the 4:43 mark to make the score 56-55 in favor of the home team. Chestnut Hill held the Holy Family offense to 1-of-15 shooting from the field in the final 6:57 minutes of action. The Tigers lone basket down the stretch came with three seconds remaining off a dunk by Munoz to cut the Griffins lead to 60-57.

In a game that saw 12 different lead changes and ten ties, both teams battled back and forth with neither team holding a lead larger than seven points. The Griffins held a seven point advantage after opening the second half on a 9-2 run after both teams entered the locker rooms at halftime tied up at 32-32.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 4 as the Tigers host Felician College in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 3 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
