29 Student-Athletes Earn D-II ADA Academic Achievement Awards

Cleveland, Ohio. - The Division II Athletics Directors Association (ADA) announced the 2012-13 recipients of the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards.

The Academic Achievement Award is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.  This year, 29 student-athletes from Holy Family University have been recognized.  In the past three years alone, Holy Family has had a total of 92 student-athletes honored.

"This is well deserved recognition for our student-athletes and Holy Family University," said Director of Athletics Sandra Michael.  "It's just another reason of why I am so very proud of our student-athlete's outstanding academic accomplishments.  It's a great tribute to our faculty members and the hard work and dedication the student athletes devote during the course of the year."

In order for student-athletes to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must:
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
  • Have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic semester

Holy Family was among ten Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institutions recognized.  As a whole, the CACC had 269 student-athletes honored, which is an increase of 36 student-athletes from a year ago.  The conference had 233 student-athletes recognized for the 2011-12 academic year.

Nationally, a record number of institutions (169) and student-athletes (6,854) have been recognized for the 2012-13 Academic Achievement Awards.
